2ND ANNUAL USC VETERANS DAY 5K

benefiting Friends of Fisher House Columbia, SC

The need for a Fisher House in Columbia was undeniable. There are over 90,000 Veterans and active military in the Dorn VA service area in South Carolina. Due to lack of availability for hotel rooms in Columbia, up to 25% of treated Veterans had family members sleeping in their hospital room or in their vehicle.

THE BIG RED BARN RETREAT

Equine and Yoga Therapy for Veterans

Soldiers rarely forget what they have seen and done. We understand that. Getting out of our own heads and being in the present moment is a huge challenge. Our programs and services are only available for active duty or prior service military and their families. The Big Red Barn Retreat offers integrated tools for survival, whether you are active duty or not. Programs, classes and workshops are provided at no cost to our military families. We encourage you to get off the couch and join your brothers and sisters in arms as we heal together.

“Some read to remember the home they had left behind, others to forget the hell that surrounded them. Books uplifted their weary souls and energized their minds…books had the power to sooth an aching heart, renew hope for the future, and provide a respite when there was no other escape.”
